Farming your own veggies has become popular these days, especially since it’s both environmentally friendly & cheap.
If you’re thinking about starting one, here are a few of the basic supplies for organic vegetable gardening that will get you off on the right foot.
If you want to grow veggies in the fastest & easiest way possible, I highly suggest you go with microgreens growing kits. They have all the supplies you need to grow organic vegetables, in as little as 7 days.
If you want to go the traditional route, here are a few of the most common supplies for growing organic veggies. First, and probably the most important, you need good quality soil.
If you’re able to have it tested for pH level, that would be great. If you’re unable to have it tested, or are not sure about it’s pH level, add some compost to your soil to neutralize it.
You can either buy compost or make it yourself. I suggest you do it yourself, using manure, coffee grinds, dried leaves and even meat waste products.
Once your soil is ready, it’s time to get seeds. When deciding on what to grow, consider your climate to find out what plants do well in your area.
When starting your garden, pests are a threat you need to take seriously. To control them naturally, use insects like ladybugs, birds or even toads. In addition, horticultural oils work well too.
Weeds are another situation you’ll have to deal with. The old fashioned style of pull them out manually works best. There are organic weed killers available commercially, but they are a bit pricey.
When getting rid of weeds, I happen to prefer using liquid based fertilizers that are seaweed based. The best point about them is that they also release potash & phosphate, which will also help your veggies flourish.
If you live in a condo or apartment, you can still try organic farming by using containers. For the best success, stick with those made from wood or clay and be sure to water your plants often.
So, these are the basic supplies you’ll need to get started. I say, go ahead and give it a go. This way, you can save money, enjoy delicious veggies & know that your eating chemical free produce.
Peace …
